Nurturing Child Development Through Play

Empowering Every Child’s Unique Developmental Journey

At Rough Common Pre-School we offer a homely atmosphere alongside a safe and nurturing environment in which to learn.

Welcome to Rough Common Pre-School. Located in the village of Rough Common, Canterbury we are a privately run Pre-School and Nursery offering places to children aged from 6 months to 5 years. We are open 38 weeks of the year from 8am until 4.30pm.

We offer a welcoming home from home atmosphere, where the children can play and learn in a safe and nurturing environment.

Our children are at the centre of everything that we do; we value them all as unique individuals. We believe that children learn best when they are stimulated and able to follow their own interests, making choices for themselves about their learning journey.

This is best achieved through play-based experiences, where the children are given the opportunity to explore their own interests, enquire, question, plan and take risks which in turn leads to high levels of wellbeing and involvement.

1.  The leadership at the pre-school is inspiring and there is an enthusiastic and dedicated team of staff, who are passionate about improving outcomes for children.

2. Children are very happy and have excellent manners and behaviour. Staff are incredibly effective at supporting children to settle at the pre-school and help them manage their feelings.

3. The staff provide an innovative and challenging environment for children. They are extremely adept at developing the experiences children have to ensure they meet their constantly evolving needs.

4. Children are extremely independent. They enjoy developing their problem-solving skills.

Our Vision

Our vision is to ensure that all the children achieve their full potential by offering a safe, fun and stimulating environment in which they are encouraged to explore, investigate and follow their interests and be actively involved in their learning.

A safe, nurturing and stimulating environment with a varied curriculum to support every child’s individual needs and interests.

An inclusive setting where all children are included regardless of race, religion, gender or educational needs.

Children are given the opportunity to explore their own interests, enquire, question, plan and take risks.

A consistent key person approach where children are encouraged to form strong relationships with adults and children.
